The Association for Language Learning (ALL)

The Association for Language Learning (ALL) is the national subject association for teachers of foreign languages and has around 6,000 individual and group members. ALL provides information, support and training through publications, its online presence and a network of branches and local groups. ALL represents the interests of its members at national level and consults with both governmental and non-governmental agencies. Are you involved in science education?  The Association for Science Education offers you the chance to be part of one of the UK’s largest education communities.  ASE is its 15,000 members who are teachers, technicians and others involved in science education. The Design and Technology Association

Design and Technology Association  “The Design and Technology Association inspires, develops and supports excellence in design and technology"

The D&T Association is the recognised subject association representing all those involved in design and technology education and associated subject areas. The Association provides a wide range of membership services, produces extensive resources and manages D&T curriculum and professional development projects, such as the CAD/CAM in Schools and Food in Schools programmes and the Electronics in Schools Strategy, on behalf of the DCSF and other government agencies.

The Geographical Association

The Geographical Association, an independent association of around 7000 members, exists to further the learning and teaching of geography. The GA publishes journals and other resources to support geography teaching at all phases. The GA and the RGS-IBG jointly lead the Action Plan for Geography.

The Historical Association

 The Historical Association The Historical Association is the voice for history. It brings together people who share an interest in, and love for, the past. We aim to further the study, teaching and enjoyment of history at all levels. We have an important role to play in supporting both teachers and students, from primary to university. We provide members with journals full of up to the minute advice; we run conferences and CPD to keep you up to date, and we have an extensive branch network where you can meet other members and listen to speakers on a wide variety of history topics.

The Mathematical Association

The Mathematical Association works to support and improve the teaching and learning of mathematics. Its school enrichment activities include the Primary Mathematics Challenge and popular maths lectures delivered through its regional branches. The MA also publishes journals and books, most of which include enrichment material.  The MA is represented on all major bodies concerned with mathematics education in the UK and has wide influence through its members, publications and activities.  The MA’s enrichment activities include talks / lectures or hands-on activity sessions for teachers and students, a website containing education and enrichment resources and/or activities, journals and books containing education and enrichment resources.  Mathematical Association

The National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE)

National Association for the Teaching of English The National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE) is the UK’s professional body for all those involved in English education from pre-school to university.

NATE supports effective teaching and learning, keeps teachers informed about current developments and provides them with a voice at a national level. The association is run on a voluntary basis through elected executive and council committees.

The association addresses current concerns, disseminates knowledge and ideas and represents the views of the association to national bodies, local education authorities, the DCSF, OFSTED, QCA and Examination Boards. If you work in English education, join NATE.
